We have started The Aztecs! We begin our unit with Stations that cover Chapter 7 and some of Chapter 8. You have had two days to work on them so far. Up to this point, you should be done AT LEAST 3 Stations.  Here is an overview of the stations if you would like to do some work this upcoming weekend. Humanties

Today we continued working on translating the Shakespeare verse of our choice.  The translation and visual are both due tomorrow, as we have been given two periods of class time (2 hours) to work on it.

Science

Today we worked on Light and Optics in Science.

You were asked to complete a worksheet using the textbook. We want to make sure you have lots of front loaded knowledge for this unit in order to begin labs. Please complete this worksheet for homework this weekend. It is due on Monday.

Science

Today we started our Light and Optics unit. We completed textbook questions. Please make sure you have your journals and classroom supplies ready to go. Please bring a NEW Math journal for tomorrow to start Surface Area.

Here are the questions in case you misplaced them. They should be done for tomorrow.

1.      What is light?  Give 2 examples of natural light sources.  How is light from the Sun produced?  What is the temperature of the interior of the Sun?

2.     How does light travel from the Sun?  In what direction does light travel from the Sun?  What is radiation?  What is the difference between radiation and radiant energy?

3.     Give 5 examples of artificial light sources.  What is an artificial light source?  Why were they developed?

4.     What is light?  How can light be transformed?    Give 3 examples of energy transformations using light.  Describe each transformation and indicate which types of energy are involved.  What is intensity of light?  How does intensity affect the absorption of light by surfaces?  Give an example and explain it.

5.     We use light in our everyday language all the time.  List 5 examples of song titles or expressions using that refer to light.

HUMANITIES

We are starting our mini-Shakespeare unit. We will be completing an analysis as well as a full reading of "The Twelfth Night". Hooray!

MATH/SCI

We will be moving forward with Light and Optics in Science. We will start this new unit tomorrow.

In Math we will be reviewing Pythagorean theorem, as well as introducing surface area. 

Project

Thank you for working so hard on your project! Today we chatted about group dynamic. We understand it is difficult to work for so long in a group, but you still have two weeks to go. Communication, hard work, and not expressing frustration in a negative way are all ways to help you and your group succeed.


Make sure that your group is evenly distributing work, and that everyone is getting a chance to have their voice heard in the group.
