Figures of Speech
Today we reviewed numerous Figures of Speech learned from previous schooling years such as: Metaphor, Simile, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Hyperbole, and Alliterations.
For homework you are asked to create anchor charts for three new pieces of figurative language. You are responsible for finding/creating examples of each piece of figurative language. You will make a definition card for each of the following terms: Pun, Oxymoron, and Idiom.
Your page much include:
1. Name of Figurative Language Device
2. A definition (in your own words of the figurative language device
3. An example of this device
4. A picture
Take the lead from the examples provided in class.
Start thinking about your favourite song or artist who you listen to regularly. Do they use figurative language devices within their lyrics?
